Car Pool Log: 2006 07-06

Black sedan with tan colored leather interiors. Driver recognized me from a previous drive (see CPL: 2006 06-19). Driver was wearing a blue shirt; his daughter was once again sitting in the backseat. CD’s in the cubby of the passenger side door: some children’s albums, a Mercury Masters Series disc, a subscription card for Real Simple magazine. The girl in the back, approximately four years old, was audibly drinking a smoothie out of a cup. When she was done she began humming and singing into the cup. Sarah and No-Name on the radio talking to Tiffany about her past career and her show last night at the Red Devil Lounge.

“Daddy?” the young girl asked.

“Yes, sweetie?”

“I’m cold.”

“We’ll be driving into the sun up ahead soon and that’ll warm you up.”

Driver asked if I was okay about being dropped off at the same location as before. I asked that he consider pulling over closer to the intersection and he agreed.

As we passed through Treasure Island the little girl began singing, on a loop: “Hi-ho, Hi-ho, it’s off to work we go.”
